LF Representatives

Representatives of the Lithuanian Foundation, Inc. (LF) are unpaid volunteers tasked with fostering  awareness within the diverse Lithuanian-American communities in the USA of the existence of LF, of its goals and achievements and, naturally, to encourage contribution to the LF in cash, valuable donations and through bequests.   In 2011 there were 15 appointed Representatives, some being responsible for considerable geographic areas, encompassing all groups and individuals who assert a wish to maintain a tie to Lithuanian heritage in many States of the Union, ranging from Washington to Florida. 

The Representatives act as liaison between the Directors and Administrators of LF and the diverse Lithuanian-heritage communities.   They need to be, and are, active members of many Lithuanian-American organizations and perform a variety of duties on behalf of the LF:  they advise the LF of the specific needs of the community he or she represents, they publicly deliver support payments to Lithuanian Heritage schools and other deserving organizations or individuals, organize fundraisers, disseminate information about LF, participate at various fairs and cultural events.  Not insignificantly, a representative often is the keynote speaker at funerals of deceased LF benefactors.

The collapse of the Soviet Union and the rebirth of independent Lithuania brought many new Lithuanian immigrants to the US in the last two decades.   The LF representatives need to be sensitive to their needs and expectations, and are challenged to integrate them into the Lithuanian Community and to win them over as new members of the Lithuanian Foundation.

The LF representatives are, and are committed to be, the eyes, ears and voice of the Lithuanian Foundation to Lithuanian-Americans scattered throughout the USA.
